Why Venturing?
Venturing is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth, adult leaders, and organizations in their communities. Local community organizations establish a Venturing Crew by matching their people and program resources to the interests of young people in the community. The result is a program of exciting and meaningful activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, develop leadership skills, and become good citizens.
Venturing Crews can participate in a variety of vocational skills, hobby interests, or may choose to specialize in one specific activity.

Frequently Asked Questions
Venturing has fees for membership and activities. As of April of 2024, the annual National membership fee for youth is $85 per year and for adults in $65 per year, but each is free if you are also registered in a Troop. (Youth and adult leader fees are for 12 months from registration; the 12-month period for those registered before August of 2023 is the calendar year. As of April 2024, there is no longer a “New Member Joining Fee”.) Other costs vary depending on the activities of your local Crew and typically range from $40 to $100 annually. One of the key values of Venturing is that everyone should help earn their own way. That's why we offer multiple opportunities throughout the year for your Venturer to earn the money needed to camp and participate in other activities.
We believe that everyone should have the chance to be a Venturer! Because of the generosity of local families, businesses and leaders, the Atlanta Area Council can offer assistance to support local families in need.
Youth lead their crews – Venturing develops young people as leaders, advised by Adult advisors.
Adults will have the opportunity to take a role in supporting your Venturer’s experience as a Crew Advisor or Assistant or Committee Member or helper - and we're here to help you become the best leader you can be with training, online resources, and support from our Program Center.
Every volunteer leader is required to go through a rigorous background check and Youth Protection Training process that ensures your child will be in a safe and fun program. The Atlanta Area Council provides many training opportunities for our leaders to enhance the program they deliver, and increase the skills they can pass onto our Scouts.
