ScoutBook Help
With Scoutbook, you can track your Scouts progress from the first knot learned in Tiger, all the way to finalizing his Eagle Scout project. Forget the hassle of trying to keep up with old binders full of logged paperwork; Scoutbook does this for you. Simply input the Scouting task completed and all documentation is automatically saved. Scoutbook can even capture images and video at the time of completion to be added along with the certificate of completion. The memory of achievement will always be with your family thanks to Scoutbook!
Before Scoutbook, leaders were spending much of their volunteering time trying to keep track and report back to parents on their child’s progress in Scouting. Now, from anywhere at any time, parents have the ability to log on and see exactly where their child’s progress is. This gives Leaders the thing they need the most: TIME WITH SCOUTS.
Achieving something is FUN! Scouts should have the ability to share that excitement with all. Thanks to Scoutbook, they now can. From any mobile device or computer, Scouts can now share via social media or with their fellow Scoutbook friends their achievements in Scouting.
What Is Scoutbook?
Scoutbook is a Scout’s “Advancement Book in the Cloud” – It connects Scouts, Scouters and other leaders. With Scoutbook, you can discover the latest Boy Scouts of America (BSA) news, thousands of Scouting videos, all the Cub Scout and Boy Scout references and much more right at your fingertips. Track your Scout’s advancement as they advance from Tiger all the way to Eagle Scout and beyond with this advancement tracking web app.
Like an “App,” but better! Scoutbook’s mobile site works on all mobile and tablet platforms like iPhone, iPad, Android, Blackberry and others. Unlike traditional apps that need to be installed and usually cost money, Scoutbook provides a FREE Scouting reference that is updated on the fly and never requires you to download patches or updates.
Scoutbook will be free to all registered leaders beginning January 1, 2019. Read this article from Bryan on Scouting for more information.

Scoutbook Login Experience
For parents & youth <13:
If they have my.scouting accounts they log in with my.scouting userID and password. If not, they log in as they did before: they log in with their Scoutbook user ids.
For unit volunteers and youth 13-18 with current Scoutbook accounts:
If they have never logged into my.Scouting, these volunteers will have to go to http://my.scouting.org and create an account. It would be useful to them if they find out what their current BSA member ID is prior to creating an account (they will be prompted for this number if known.) This can be obtained from their official roster or by calling their council office. After creating their my.Scouting account they can then login to Scoutbook using the same account name and password. If they have created an account in my.Scouting, they can log in with their current Scoutbook user ids and
will be led to setup SSO. If they have a MY.SCOUTING account that is tied to the same member Id as their Scoutbook profile, they enter their my.Scouting credentials in the setup SSO screen and they are set. All future logins will use their My.Scouting credentials for login once this step is done.
NOTE: Parents may invite a youth < 13 to create an account in Scoutbook. Parent invite continues to be the only way a youth < 13 may create a Scoutbook account. A my.Scouting account cannot be created for or by a youth < 13
For unit volunteers and youth 13-18 without current Scoutbook accounts:
If they have a my.Scouting account, they log in with their my.Scouting credentials. If the my.Scouting account is tied to a Member id, that will be matched with the appropriate Scoutbook unit and access is provided to that unit upon login. No new changes needed for these people - SSO is what is letting them in. If they don’t have a my.Scouting account, they would need to create one that is tied to their membership. My.Scouting account creation process discovers the BSA membership for these users based on profile attribute matchup and allows them to create an account that links into their
membership. Once the my.Scouting account is created, they use this to log in to Scoutbook. No further changes needed.
