DRAFT COPE Weekends

The Atlanta Area Council is proud to offer Climbing and Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience (COPE) programs at both Bert Adams Scout Camp and Woodruff Scout Camp as well as off-site caving programs. These programs are available during summer camp and on select weekends throughout the year.

Training is also available throughout the year for adult volunteers who are interested in facilitating climbing, COPE and other high ropes element programming.

Project COPE

Project COPE, a national program of the Boy Scouts of America, is composed of group initiative games, trust events, low course events, and high ropes course events. Some activities involve a group challenge, while others develop individual skills and agility. Participants climb, swing, balance, jump, rappel, and devise solutions to a variety of problems. Most participants achieve much more than they imagined they could.

The Project COPE Weekend events are perfect for Troops, Patrols, Venture Crews, Ships, and Explorer Posts. In addition, they are a perfect way for a pending Philmont, Canoe Base, or Sea Base Crew to come together as a team prior to their big adventure.

Don’t forget the adults! How do you get the newly crossed over adults integrated into your unit? New adults feel a little lost and unsure of their place among the group of existing leaders. Take a group of existing leaders and a group of new adults to a COPE event and you will have a fully integrated team by the end of the weekend.

The Atlanta Area Council invites all Scouts BSA Troops and Patrols, Venture Crews, Ships, Explorer Posts, and adult Scouter groups to come out and enjoy a weekend of Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience at the Project COPE Course at Woodruff Scout Camp near Blairsville or at the Bert Adams Scout Camp near Covington. We run 2 events each spring and another 2 events each fall.
