Citizenship in Society Facilitator Training

Citizenship in Society is BSA's newest Merit Badge which will become a required merit badge on July 1, 2022. The new merit badge encourages Scouts to explore important topics around diversity, equity, inclusion, and ethical leadership and learn why these qualities are important in society and in Scouting.

The Atlanta Area Council has created a new committee to approve individuals wishing to facilitate this new merit badge. Part of the approval process is the completion of this training.

Prior to the training course, all interested facilitators must complete the following:

  1. Take the DEI training at
  2. Complete requirements 1a (pg. 14-15) and 3b (pg. 17) found in the Citizenship in Society Counselor Guide
