Year-Round Camp Programs

While our community supports Scouting because of its character education, youth join the program to have fun and experience the outdoors. The Atlanta Area Council maintains three outdoor educational and camping properties: Woodruff Scout Reservation, Bert Adams Scout Reservation, and Allatoona Aquatics Base.

Summer Camp Outcomes Study

The Boy Scouts of America Summer Camp Outcomes Study infers that positive outcomes of Scout summer camp occur because the environment and activities at camp incorporate all of the elements of healthy youth development, including: strong personal values and character, positive sense of self-worth and usefulness, caring and nurturing relationships, a desire to learn, productive and creative use of time, and social adeptness.  Summer camp is an outdoor classroom for learning experiences.  The majority of boys “try something they have never tried before” (86%), “test a new skill” (81%), “see something they have not seen before” (75%), or “learn about the environment” (65%) while at camp.
