Shooting Sports Training Program
The Atlanta Area Council sponsors NRA & USA Archery training courses to help train Scout Leaders to enable Scouts, Scouters, and others to improve their shooting skills and shooting knowledge. Successful completion of the training courses will help increase your unit’s chances of having a successful shooting sports weekend, increase your personal knowledge of shooting activities, shooting safety, and marksmanship. The AAC is adding two new courses for Scouters only (no dates yet). “Home Firearm Safety” and “Refuse To Be A Victim” will be added in the near future and will be taught at the Volunteer Center. If you wish to be notified for either of these courses, contact the Shooting Sports Committee Chair at firstname.lastname@example.org .
We Need Instructors
We need certified instructors to serve as Shooting Merit Badge Shooting Counselors, conduct Shooting Sports Merit Badge classes, and to help with Atlanta Area Council Events, Summer Camps, District Camporees, Troop / Unit Shooting Events, and other Level 2 shooting events.
How Do I Get Certified?
The NRA and USA Archery instructor training courses are designed to teach new instructors how to teach others. By learning to teach others, you will also increase your personal knowledge, skills and attitude of firearms and archery. As a plus, becoming an instructor will probably improve your personal shooting skills. Participants who successfully complete the NRA or USA Archery instructor training courses will be classified as a certified instructor for the respective organization.
