Woodruff Xtreme

Looking for a great fun filled week of river trips, kayaking, fly fishing, ropes courses, mountain biking, horseback riding and field games?

Are you 13 or older and have completed the 8th grade? Are you in a Venture Crew? 

Then the Woodruff Xtreme program is for you. You’ll leave Woodruff Sunday evening, during the opening campfire. The next 5 days will be spent at the WWE Outpost Camp near the Ocoee River in Ducktown, Tennessee. Housing will be in rustic cabins.

Tentative schedule

  • Sunday evening
    • Leave Woodruff, travel to Ocoee Base Camp
  • Monday – Team Building Day
    • Low Ropes/High Ropes at Ocoee Base Camp
    • Ga-Ga Ball
    • Campfire
  • Tuesday - Nantahala River
    • Morning trip on the Nantahala - with guide training
    • Afternoon trip on Nantahala - Scouts Guiding
  • Wednesday - Hiking
    • Hike with day-pack to Ocoee Outdoor Center
    • Swimming at Blue Hole
    • Hike to ENO Village (overnight)
    • Campfire
  • Thursday - On Camp Fun
    • Horseback Riding
    • Mountain Biking
    • Field Games
  • Friday - Ocoee River
    • Whitewater Rafting on the Middle Ocoee
    • Travel back to Woodruff after lunch


All this for an added fee of only $50 (youth) beyond your base camp fee. This fee does not apply to Venture Crews.

Packing List

  • For Base Camp @ WWE:
    • Personal toiletries (Soap, Toothpaste, Toothbrush)
    • Three (3) changes of clothes
    • Towels (2)
    • Long pants – for climbing
    • Bathing suit / Rafting clothes
    • Tennis shoes / river shoes
    • Small trunk/lockbox (you might consider this if you have lots of valuables, maybe share with a friend)
    • Sleeping bag/Sleeping pad (if desired)
    • Camp shoes (sturdy)
    • Good Rain gear
    • Backpack/Small Duffle
    • Personal 1st Aid Kit
    • Trail mix (NOT candy)
  • For Woodruff:
    • Scout Uniform
    • Change of clothes
    • Extra Towel/toiletries
  • Do NOT bring:
    • Large knives, hatchets, or axes
    • Avoid radios or other electronics
