Recycle for GoodRecycle for Good

This Spring all Atlanta Area Council Packs, Troops, Crews, and Posts are challenged to join Recycle for Good, with the goal of collecting 10,000 pounds of aluminum for recycling, which will in turn help fund a Habitat for Humanity home for a family in Atlanta’s Westside community! This is a big goal, but we know with your help we’re sure to achieve it.

Did you know $73 million worth of aluminum goes needlessly to landfills instead of being recycled each year in Georgia? Think if we had that funding to invest in our communities!

How to Participate

Click here to register your unit with the Recycle for Good program.

Get Exclusive Access to Life of a Can, a recycling education program that allows your Scouts to explore the impact of recycling just ONE can.

Start Recycling Aluminum Bottles & Cans

  1. Challenge your fellow Scouts, your charter organization, your school, your neighborhood and local businesses to collect aluminum bottles and cans. We are collecting beverage cans only – no food cans as they are typically not made of aluminum.
  2. Organize collection points at community events, in neighborhoods, local businesses or at your charter organization.

Bring Your Cans to Any of the Following Locations:

  1. Atlanta Habitat for Humanity (824 Memorial Drive SE, Atlanta, GA 30316)
  2. Any Atlanta United Home Game outside of Gate 1
  3. A local recycling center in your community.  Be sure to get a weigh-in receipt so you can report your impact and have the recycling center make the payment out to Habitat for Humanity Atlanta

Tell Us About Your Success

  1. You will need to weigh your cans and report results using this form.
  2. If you use a local recycling center, the check of the value of the cans should be mailed our partners at Novelis.

All Scouts who participate will receive a commemorative patch.

Can Your Unit Achieve the 1,000 Pound Challenge?

All Units who successfully recycle 1,000 pounds of aluminum cans (31,000 cans) will receive a special prize.

The deadline to collect cans is Earth Day on April 22, 2018, but you can submit your results until May 1, to receive your patches.
